Arsenal held to a draw by Brentford
Arsenal missed the chance to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to six points after being held to a 1-1 draw by Brentford on Thursday in Matchday 26. Brentford dominated the first half but failed to capitalize on their chances, leaving the score 0-0 at halftime. In the second half, Arsenal, whose performance improved, took the lead in the 61st minute through Noni Madueke, who rose above Rico Henry to head home a cross from Piero Hincapie.
Brentford equalized 10 minutes later when Michael Kayode's throw-in was headed on by Sepp van den Berg to Ken Lewis-Potter at the far post, who nodded it into the top corner.
Brentford looked the more likely to win in the closing stages, but Arsenal held on for the draw, taking their points tally to 57 from 26 matches, four points ahead of Manchester City. Brentford, in seventh place, increased their tally to 40 points, four points behind Chelsea in fifth.
