According to a report published by the Spanish newspaper Fichajes, Chelsea is facing competition from Bournemouth in the race to sign Cardozo.
The report indicated that Chelsea was interested in signing Cardozo during the last winter transfer window, but the club was unable to complete the deal.
The newspaper reported that Chelsea has re-entered the race to sign Cardozo with a stronger offer to complete the deal.
The two English clubs have expressed their willingness to pay a total of €35 million to complete the deal.
The amount will be divided into two parts: the first €30 million as a fixed amount, with an additional €5 million in variables.
Cardozo, 23, plays as a defensive midfielder. His contract with Real Betis expires in June 2030.
Cardozo joined Betis in January 2024 from Brazilian club Internacional and has since made 56 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing three assists.
