Mbappé's Penalty Gives Real Madrid Points Over Osasuna
Real Madrid's French striker Kylian Mbappé converted a second-half penalty to give his team a hard-fought 1-0 win over visiting Osasuna in their opening match of the Spanish Primera Division on Tuesday.
Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso got off to a winning start in his first league match with the hosts.
After struggling to penetrate Osasuna's stubborn defense in the first half, Mbappé was awarded a penalty, which he converted six minutes into the second half to give Real Madrid the lead.
The team continued to press forward in search of more goals, but were unable to increase their lead. Osasuna came close to scoring a surprise equalizer before the end when Ante Budimir headed over from close range. The visiting player, Abel Britonis, was sent off in stoppage time for an off-the-ball tackle on Gonzalo Garcia.
