West Ham United's 4-0 thrashing of Wolverhampton lifts them out of the relegation zone. Goals from Konstantinos Mavropanos and Valentin Kastianos secured a comfortable 4-0 victory for West Ham United against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday in the Premier League.
This win, West Ham's fifth clean sheet of the season, propelled them to 17th place with 32 points, two points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, who face 16th-placed Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Wolverhampton Wanderers remain bottom of the table with 17 points. The visitors made a good start to the match, but fell behind when defender Mavropanos rose high to head home a cross from Jarrod Bowen in the 42nd minute. Bowen then hit the post before West Ham doubled their lead in the 66th minute when Wolverhampton Wanderers easily lost possession and Castellanos pounced, firing a powerful shot into the net. Castellanos then added a third goal just a minute later.
Wolverhampton looked helpless to mount a comeback, and their misery deepened when Mavropanos scored West Ham's fourth goal in the 83rd minute. Wolverhampton now face the prospect of relegation when they travel to Leeds United on April 18th.
