Augsburg complicates Hoffenheim's calculations

Hoffenheim's first football team had to settle for a 2-2 draw away against Augsburg in the 30th round of the German Bundesliga on Friday.

Alexis Morris opened the scoring for Augsburg in the 11th minute, and Michael Gregoritsch added a second goal in the 14th minute, giving the home side a significant advantage.

However, the first half ended before the visitors, Hoffenheim, equalized. Czech player Ruben Hranac scored the first goal in the 35th minute, and Ivorian Bazoumana Touré added the second in the 42nd minute. Augsburg missed a penalty in the 85th minute, taken by Alexis Morris, leaving the score level.

Despite securing a hard-fought point away from home, the draw does little to help Hoffenheim in the race for European qualification. They now have 51 points in fifth place, two points behind RB Leipzig in third and Stuttgart in fourth. In contrast, Augsburg raised its tally to 33 points in tenth place, ahead of ninth-place Mainz on goal difference, before the round is completed.
