Barcelona... Fifth Super Cup Final Appearance
Barcelona's first football team has qualified for the Spanish Super Cup final for the fourth consecutive time and the fifth time since the tournament's format was changed in 2020.
Barcelona thrashed Athletic Bilbao 5-0 on Wednesday evening at the Al-Inma Stadium in Jeddah, securing their place in the final, where they will face the winner of Thursday's match between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid on Sunday.
The number of teams in the Spanish Super Cup increased to four from two in the 2019-2020 edition, which was also held in Jeddah.
Since then, the Catalan team has reached the finals in 2021, 2023, 2024, and 2025, while losing in the semi-finals in the first edition under the new format and in 2022. In this edition in Jeddah, Barcelona has equaled Real Madrid's record number of final appearances since the expansion of the tournament, the most of any team. But Real Madrid can regain their advantage by beating Atletico Madrid and reaching the final for the sixth time since the competition changed its format, which began in 1982 and remained played between two teams for more than 35 years.
