Liverpool cruised to a 4-1 victory over Barnsley on Monday, setting up a fourth-round FA Cup clash with Brighton.
Dominique Szoboszlai opened the scoring for Liverpool with a stunning long-range strike in the ninth minute, after a header from Barnsley's Keylor Dane rebounded off the post within the first 30 seconds.
In his FA Cup debut, Dutch right-back Jeremy Frimpong doubled Liverpool's lead in the 36th minute with a left-footed shot. Szoboszlai then made a costly error in the 40th minute, attempting a backheel pass to goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, which Adam Phillips pounced on to tap in. Liverpool scored their third goal in the 84th minute when substitute Florian Wirtz, who came on in the second half, made amends for an earlier missed opportunity with a curling shot into the top right corner.
Hugo Ekiteke completed Liverpool's four-goal haul in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
