Auger-Aliassime reaches the Flushing Meadows semifinals for the second time in his professional career. Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, ranked 27th in the world, advanced to the US Open semifinals for the second time in his professional career, defeating eighth-seeded Australian Alex de Minaur 4-6, 7-6 (9-7), 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) on Wednesday in the quarterfinals.
This is the eighth time the 25-year-old Canadian has reached the last four of an ATP tournament this year. He will await the winner of the final quarterfinal between Italians Jannik Sinner, the world number one and defending champion, and Lorenzo Muzzetti, ranked 10th. This is only the second time Auger-Aliassime has reached the semi-finals of a Grand Slam, after his first appearance at Flushing Meadows in 2021. The Canadian, who had defeated Germany's Alexander Zverev and Russia's Andrey Rublev in the previous two rounds, overcame a 4-6 loss in the first set and trailed 2-4 in the second to win 7-6 (9-7), 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) after four hours and 10 minutes.
