Salah Wins PFA Player of the Year for the Third Time

Egyptian Mohamed Salah became the first player to win the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year award for a third time on Tuesday, after leading Liverpool to the Premier League title.
The Egyptian international scored 29 goals and provided 18 assists to lead Liverpool to their 19th Premier League title, equaling the record held by Manchester United.
Salah previously won the award in the 2017-18 and 2021-22 seasons. He has also won the PFA Player of the Year and Premier League Player of the Year awards in recent months.
Three of Salah's teammates were also named in the PFA Team of the Year: Dutchmen Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch, and Argentinian Alexis Mac Allister.
Hungarian Milos Kerkez, who joined Liverpool from Bournemouth last June, also featured in the squad, along with Arsenal trio William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Declan Rice.
Belgian goalkeeper Mats Sels and New Zealander Chris Wood were also selected after their impressive performances with Nottingham Forest, as well as Newcastle's Swedish striker Alexander Isak, who finished second in the Premier League's top scorers.
Aston Villa's Morgan Rodgers won the Young Player of the Year award after his performances earned him a call-up to the England squad.
Arsenal's Spanish midfielder Mariona Caldente won the Women's Player of the Year award after helping her team win the Champions League.
The Spanish midfielder scored 19 goals in all competitions, including eight in the Champions League, in her first season in England.
Former England manager Gareth Southgate and Chelsea manager Emma Hayes also won the Merit Awards. Southgate led the team to back-to-back European Championship finals in 2020 and 2024, as well as the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup.
Southgate left his position after eight years following a defeat to Spain at Euro 2024 last summer. Hayes received the same award for her contributions to women's football, having led Chelsea to seven Women's Super League titles, including five consecutive, as well as five FA Cups and two League Cups. Hayes left in the summer of 2024 to take over as captain of the US women's national team, with whom she won two gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
