Second Japanese Signing: Morita Strengthens Hull City
Hull City have bolstered their first-team squad with the signing of veteran Japanese midfielder Hidemasa Morita on a two-year contract with an option for a further year, on a free transfer.
This is Hull City's fourth signing since securing promotion to the Premier League for the 2026/27 season, following their 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough in the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium on May 23.
Morita becomes the second Japanese player in Hull City's ranks, after winger Yu Hirakawa, who returned to Bristol City after a season on loan, and the 17th Japanese player to feature in the Premier League.
According to the club's official website, the 31-year-old Morita has 40 international caps and has made 370 appearances throughout his career, winning eight major trophies.
Morita won two consecutive Portuguese league titles and a Portuguese Cup during his four seasons in Lisbon, scoring 11 goals and providing 16 assists in 166 appearances. Morita played his first professional match with Kawasaki Frontale in February 2018, and won the first of two J-League titles in his first season.
