Bessio... Barcelona's Third Signing

On Friday, FC Barcelona completed their third summer signing, acquiring young Belgian winger Jessy Bessio from Club Brugge on a contract running until 2031. Bessio is the third Belgian player to join Barcelona's ranks, following in the footsteps of striker Fernand Guaverts (1962-1965) and defender Thomas Vermaelen (2014-2019).

The club stated in a press release on its official website: "With the signing of Bessio, Barcelona has acquired a winger with a bright future thanks to his speed, strength, and dribbling skills."

Bessio was born in Belgium and was a regular starter for their youth national teams. He first rose to prominence at the 2015 UEFA European Under-17 Championship when he was named to the tournament's Team of the Tournament after reaching the semi-finals with Belgium. The player began his football career at FC Leuven before moving to Club Brugge in 2020, where he made 14 appearances over the last two seasons, scoring three goals in the UEFA Youth League.

At the age of 15, he made his debut for NXT, Club Brugge's reserve team in the Belgian Second Division.

Barcelona recently signed English winger Anthony Gordon and German winger Karim Adeyemi from Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund, respectively.
