Juventus extends Spalletti's contract, targets Calafiori and Tonali
Luciano Spalletti has extended his contract as head coach of Juventus until June 30, 2028. "We are delighted to extend Luciano's contract for two more seasons," said Juventus CEO Damien Comolli in a statement on Friday.
Comolli explained that since Spalletti joined the Juventus family, he has had an immediate and very positive impact on the players, the entire club, and the fans.
"His ambitious style of play reflects the expectations of our fans and the club, and his values embody our identity," he added.
La Gazzetta dello Sport had previously listed 11 of Spalletti's top targets, including Premier League duo Riccardo Calafiori (Arsenal) and Sandro Tonali (Newcastle).
Juventus currently sits in fifth place, one point behind fourth-placed Como, and several sources indicate that Spalletti will have a role in selecting new summer signings. However, the newspaper points out that the return of Calafiori and Tonali could cost the club a lot, and their desire to return to the Italian league may be the only factor that could help Juventus reduce the demands of Arsenal and Newcastle.
