Mauritania to Compensate Argentina for Cancelled Faenalísma
The Argentine national football team will play a friendly match against Mauritania on March 27th, following the cancellation of the Faenalísma match between the European and South American champions, which was scheduled to take place in Qatar.
The friendly against Mauritania will be played at La Bombonera stadium in Buenos Aires, the Argentine capital. It will be an opportunity for fans to bid farewell to the World Cup champions before the 2026 World Cup, which will be held next summer in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The Mauritanian national team is not considered one of the top African teams, but they had no prior commitments on the day of the match, which was originally designated for the Faenalísma.
The Spanish newspaper Marca reported that Argentina's coach, Lionel Scaloni, had no choice but to accept this match after the cancellation of the game against Spain, the European champions. The national team, nicknamed "The Tango Dancers," is looking for another friendly match to play on March 31, taking advantage of the current break in league championships worldwide.
