Cincinnati Open: Iga Advances to Quarterfinals
Polish tennis star Iga Swiatek advanced to the quarterfinals of the women's singles at the Cincinnati Masters 1000 on Wednesday.
Iga, the third seed, needed one hour and 35 minutes to defeat Romanian Sorana Cirstea 6-4, 6-3 in the round of 16 of the ongoing hardcourt tournament in the United States.
With this victory, Iga extends her overall record against Cirstea to 5-0, and has now won 10 consecutive sets against the Romanian, according to the WTA website.
The only time Cirstea has successfully forced Iga to three sets was in their first meeting at the 2022 Australian Open.
