Mexico Wins Gold Cup
The Mexican national football team won the Gold Cup title after defeating the United States 2-1 in the final, which took place at NRG Stadium in Houston, USA, early Monday morning.
The United States took an early lead through Chris Richards in the fourth minute, but Mexican veteran Raúl Jiménez quickly equalized for his country in the 27th minute, ending the first half with a 1-1 draw.
13 minutes before the end of regulation time, Edson Alvarez scored Mexico's second goal, after which the United States players attempted to come back into the game until the referee blew the final whistle.
The Mexicans broke the United States' lead over them in the last five official matches between the two teams, with their last victory dating back to 2019.
