Date of the 2025 Ballon d'Or Gala Announced
French magazine France Football has announced the date of the 2025 Ballon d'Or Gala, the 69th edition of which is held annually in Paris to award the best players in world football for the year.
The official account of the Ballon d'Or website revealed, via the microblogging platform "X," that it will be held on September 22nd at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
Rodri holds last year's award
Spanish midfielder Rodri, who plays for Manchester City, holds the title for the 2024 edition, beating Real Madrid duo Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham.
Messi tops the list of award winners.
Argentine Lionel Messi, the Inter Miami player, is the most successful player in the award's history, winning eight times. He is ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo, the Al-Nassr player, who has won five times, Frenchman Michel Platini, the former Juventus player, and Dutch players Johan Cruyff and Marco van Basten, who have each won three titles.
Mohamed Salah, captain of the Egyptian national team and star of Liverpool, is the most prominent candidate to win the award this year, given his performances with his team and his close finish in the top scorer and best player categories in the competition.
