Chelsea crowned Champions League champions
Chelsea, the English football team, won the UEFA Conference League title after defeating Real Betis 4-1 in the final on Wednesday.
This is the ninth continental title for the Blues, having won the Champions League twice (2011-2012 and 2020-2021), the Europa League (2012-2013 and 2018-2019), the UEFA Super Cup (1998 and 2021), and the Cup Winners' Cup (which was merged with the UEFA Cup to become the Europa League) (1970-1971 and 1997-1998). This makes them the only team to have won every European trophy. At Wrocław Stadium in Poland, Moroccan Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, a Real Betis player, took the lead 10 minutes after the start of the match, taking advantage of a pass from his teammate Isco and firing to the left of the goalkeeper. The first half ended with a goalless draw.
The English team rebounded in the second half and put constant pressure on their Spanish counterparts, resulting in an equalizer through team captain Enzo Fernandez, who took advantage of a pass from his teammate Cole Palmer in the 65th minute.
Five minutes after the equalizer, Palmer again created the second goal, chesting down Nicolas Jackson's cross into the net.
Chelsea continued to dominate, with Jadon Sancho scoring the third goal in the 85th minute. Moises Caicedo sealed the win in stoppage time with a fourth goal in the 90+1 minute.
