Turkey Today: Trabzonspor Close to Signing Salah for €17 Million


Turkish club Trabzonspor is close to signing Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah to bolster its first football team, after negotiations between the two parties reached an advanced stage, according to the Turkish newspaper Turkey Today on Tuesday.

The newspaper indicated that the club sent a detailed contract to Salah, 34, which includes a two-year deal after reaching a preliminary agreement. Citing the Fanatik website, the newspaper reported that the Egyptian national team captain will receive €17 million per season under the proposed deal, in addition to performance-related bonuses.

A significant portion of the financial aspect of the deal is expected to be covered through sponsorship agreements, as Trabzonspor is in talks with several companies to secure the necessary funding.

The newspaper stated that the club agreed to Salah's request for a share of shirt sales revenue, although the percentage will not exceed 20% to 25%. This percentage was the point of contention between the player and Turkish club Fenerbahçe, which announced at a press conference the collapse of negotiations due to the player's agent's excessive demands and financial requests.
